Some nature shots from Diego Garcia. I havent been uploading anything due to extremely slow internet, and a oh-my-god-i-cant-do-this level of stress at work.

I can happily say that I will be a reservist in the Navy this November…the 22nd to be precise. While I love this job and care about it immensely, and the good things it STANDS for….I do not feel as though I can continue perpetuating certain things about it. I simply don’t like banging my head against a wall expecting to find a door, and “harder not smarter” is a common theme these days. I love my country…I love my shipmates. I always will. I can serve better elsewhere.

That being said, I’m focusing on the beautiful aspects of this place. Last night I stood on a beach nearly devoid of any ambient light, on one of two islands that are inhabitable in a chain of 52 coral atolls. I saw the milky way, I heard the strains of laughter and classic rock from the bar on the beach, and felt fish gather at my feet. I had a margartia. I laughed hysterically… I was happy. This place is healthy, and reminds me of what matters.

This October I should be living on Oahu, and then I’ll be able to keep uploading photos, and go back to art school! I cant wait to start studying animal anatomy again. I miss them.

I am now 7 degrees south of the equator in BIOT (British Indian Ocean Terretory) on a tropical island called Diego Garcia. I will be doing construction with 17 other seabees here for the next eight months. I am missing my family but this is a gorgeous paradise, with only a few birds, lizards, and sea turtles. No predators. No large mammals, Few irritating bugs. Hot and humid, and beautiful!

Havent posted in awhile. So here’s some full frontal nerdity. Wish I had a scanner! Oh well, after Japan I’ll have my perfect art/photography SUITE and plenty of funding for it. The jeep will be paid off and have a rebel alliance wheel cover yesssssssss….and the drawing in this set is a hint at the next tattoo I’m getting! All inspired by the man who gave me a rebel pin and a stuffed chewie, all on our first date. Win.

Sam’s surf shop, open for business….

This was a two-day project for a co-worker’s wife. She is about to return to surfing after a long hiatus due to a foot injury, and for her birthday he commissioned this custom board from me. The board was shaped by Robert Weiner of Oxnard, CA, and I painted the Costa Rican orchids on the blank with cheapo acrylics. I hear it is looking great with the rails and clear-coat on it, not even that much color fading! Hope she likes it.
